Invitation for Postgraduate Applications

FUTA is welcoming applications from candidates with the appropriate qualifications for its diverse range of postgraduate programs. This includes Postgraduate Diplomas, Masters, and Ph.D. programs for the 2024/2025 academic year.

Essential Admission Requirements

Before applying, ensure you meet the basic requirement of having at least five ‘O’ level credits, including credits in English Language and Mathematics.

Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) Requirements:

  • A recognized first degree in the relevant discipline.
  • A Higher National Diploma (HND) with at least a Lower Credit grade or its equivalent in related disciplines.
  • Specific professional qualifications such as ACA, AIB, ACCA, ACIS, especially for the Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science.

Masters Programs Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree with at least a Second Class Lower Division from FUTA or a recognized institution in the relevant discipline.
  • A Bachelor’s degree from other recognized universities in the suitable discipline.
  • An HND with a Lower Credit grade, complemented by a Postgraduate Diploma (at Upper Credit level) in the relevant discipline.

Master of Philosophy (M. Phil.) Requirements:

  • A commendable M. Tech. degree or its equivalent in the relevant discipline.

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Requirements:

  • A Masters degree in the appropriate discipline with a CGPA of 3.50 and/or a minimum average score of 60%.
  • Any other qualification approved by the Senate.

Programme Duration at FUTA

Postgraduate Diploma Programs (PGD):

  • Full-Time: 18 to 24 months
  • Part-Time: 18 to 36 months

Masters Programs:

  • M. Agric. Tech./M. Eng./M. Tech./Professional: 18 to 24 months

M. Phil. Program:

  • Duration: 18 to 24 months, with an option to transfer to the Ph.D. program upon meeting the required criteria.

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Program:

  • Full-Time Candidates: 36 to 60 months
  • Part-Time Candidates: 48 to 72 months

Note: O’Level results are no longer required for postgraduate admissions.

Applications are processed online via the University’s official website. Payments should be made using the REMITA method to the School of Postgraduate Studies account. Each postgraduate application form costs N20,000.00.

Ph.D. candidates must send their Research Proposal to [email protected] using a specific format. Non-FUTA graduates should ensure their academic transcripts are sent from their previous institutions to the provided address, including the Transcript Label attached to the Application Form.

Important Information

  • Academic transcripts without the Transcript Label will not be processed.
  • Both the application form and acceptance fees are non-refundable.
